About INOVEX
INOVEX: Innovation and Exploration for Sustainability is a thrilling design competition organised through a collaboration between the six engineering clubs at the University of Southampton Malaysia. INOVEX aims to provide a platform for talented individuals to showcase their skills and ingenuity in the different fields of Engineering. Competition Overview
The competition will be open to teams consisting of 2-5 people. Each team will be allowed to choose from several problem statements within a total of 4 categories. Then, participants are required to develop their own solutions, create prototypes and present their designs to a panel of judges.
The competition consists of two phases: Phase 1, requires teams to submit a proposal and poster of their prototype; shortlisted teams from Phase 1 will then go on to Phase 2 where they will be required to set up their booths, and present their solution to our judges.
Who can participate?
This competition is open to all students (Within the age of 16-25 years) from Malaysia-based education institutions from any field of study, preferably from a science and engineering background.

FAQ
1. Am I expected to have a prototype ready for the proposal and poster submission?
Yes, it is expected to be included in the Proposal and Poster. Virtual prototype or SolidWorks would also be accepted for Phase 1 submissions.
2. What prototype should I include if my product is software based?
A software interface screenshot would be accepted.
3. Am I allowed to join the online pitching workshop if I am not shortlisted?
Yes. All participants are welcome to join both the workshops and as well as the Meet and Greet Session with the James Dyson Foundation engineers.
4. How will submissions be evaluated?
Our panel of judges consists of industrial engineers from the James Dyson Foundation and professors from top universities. The judging criteria will be standardised for all problem statements and be made available for participants after registration.
5. What is the budget of the project? Are we self-funded?
Your project is expected to be self funded or sponsored by external parties. Materials and subscriptions will not be provided by the INOVEX organising committee. We would recommend you to source assistance from your institution.
6. Can a team consist of participants from multiple different universities/schools?
Yes, you may form a team with members from different universities/schools, as long as they are between the ages of 16-25. However, we would strongly encourage team members to be from the same institution.
